Nelson Chardonnay 2014
Richmond Plains Chardonnay is an elegant wine made with a light oak influence to showcase the fresh fruity flavours. It can be enjoyed on its own or with a wide variety of meals, particularly seafood and white meats.
Richmond Plains is certified organic by AsureQuality New Zealand and certified biodynamic by Demeter.
Richmond Plains produced New Zealand’s first Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Blanc de Noir from both certified organic and from biodynamic grapes.
Nose: Attractive peach and vanilla aromas.
Palate: Fresh fruity peach and nectarine flavours with a refreshing citrus finish and a subtle touch of oak.
Viticulture: Fruit for the Chardonnay is grown on vertical shoot position trellis and handpicked to ensure only the best fruit is harvested.
Winemaking: The hand picked fruit was 2/3 whole bunch 1/3 crushed to press. The juice was then transferred to French oak barrels and tank with staves for fermentation (40% malolactic) .
Diet: Suitable fora a vegetarian diet.
Residual Sugar: 1.7 gms/L
Acidity: 5.8 gms/L
It is youthful and gently fragrant on the nose displaying white nectarine, rock melon, citrus and subtle oak characters. The palate is elegant and finely textured with lovely mid palate weight, beautifully supported by bright acidity. Well balanced and poised.«««« Stars - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
